The 2025 Torneo Apertura will be the opening stage of the 88th professional season of Paraguay’s top football league. The tournament is scheduled to begin on January 24, 2025, and conclude on June 1, 2025.
Olimpia will defend the title. The Decano won both the Apertura and Clausura tournaments in 2024, securing the championship after beating Ameliano in the playoff final. Ameliano, on the other hand, will aim for revenge this season.
Format
The competition follows the same format used in previous years. All twelve teams will play each other twice, once at home and once away, for a total of 22 matches per team. The team with the most points at the end of the tournament will be crowned champion. If two or more teams finish level on points, a playoff will determine the winner.
Qualification for international competitions
The Apertura champion will secure a spot in the 2026 Copa Libertadores group stage. Other qualification places will be determined by the aggregate table of both the Apertura and Clausura tournaments.
